Philately New Stamp Issue - Olympic Games 2024

The 2024 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, commonly known as "Paris 2024", is a major international multi-sport event held every four years. With more than 200 national teams representing sovereign states and territories, the Games are regarded as the world's premier and most prestigious sporting event. Athletes from all over the globe compete against one another in a range of sport disciplines.

The Olympic Games will take place from 26 July to 11 August 2024 in France, with Paris as the main host city. The Games programme features 329 events in 32 sport disciplines with a total of 10,500 athletes - the first time ever with an identical number of men and women participants.

Malta has competed in 17 editions of the Summer Olympics, the first participation taking place at Amsterdam in 1928. To celebrate Paris 2024, MaltaPost shall issue a new set of stamps depicting 3 of the most popular sporting events throughout the Games, with each stamp also including an iconic Paris monument. The €0.20 stamp shows an athlete competing in the track-with-hurdles event flanked by the world-famous Eiffel Tower. The €1.00 stamp depicts a runner next to the Arc de Triomphe, while the third one, bearing a denomination of €5.00, displays a swimmer and the Notre-Dame Cathedral.

This set will be issued in a sheet of 10 stamps, with each stamp measuring 44mm x 31mm, with a comb perforation of 14.1 x 14.2 and bearing the Maltese Cross watermark. The sheets measure 115mm x 182mm and were produced by Printex Ltd in the offset process. The issue consists of 100,000 of the €0.20 stamp, 20,000 of the €1.00 stamp and 15,000 of the €5.00 stamp.

The stamps will be available from all Post Offices in Malta and Gozo from Friday 26 July 2024. Ħarġa Filatelika - Il-Logħob Olimpiku tal-2024

L-Olimpjadi tas-Sajf tal-2024, uffiċjalment il-Logħob tal-XXXIII Olimpjadi, magħrufa bħala "Pariġi 2024", hija avveniment internazzjonali kbir ta' diversi sport, organizzat kull erba' snin. B'aktar minn 200 tim nazzjonali li jirrappreżentaw stati u territorji sovrani, il-Logħob huma meqjusa bħala l-akbar avveniment sportiv u ta' prestiġju fid-dinja. Atleti minn madwar id-dinja jikkompetu kontra xulxin f'firxa ta' dixxiplini sportivi.

Il-Logħob Olimpiku ser jsir bejn is-26 ta' Lulju u l-11 ta' Awwissu 2024 fi Franza, fejn il-belt kapitali ta' Pariġi se tkun il-belt prinċipali. Il-programm tal-Logħob se jinkludi 329 avveniment fi 32 dixxiplina sportiva, b'total ta' 10,500 atleta - l-ewwel darba b'numru identiku ta' parteċipanti rġiel u nisa.

Il-bolla ta' €0.20 turi atleta li qed jikkompeti fl-avveniment ta' track-with-hurdles, muri ħdejn il-famuż Torri Eiffel. Il-bolla ta' €1.00 turi atleta ġerrej ħdejn l-Arc de Triomphe, filwaqt li t-tielet bolla, b'denominazzjoni ta' €5.00, turi għawwiema u l-Katidral ta' Notre Dame.

Dan is-sett jinħareġ f'folja ta' għaxar bolli, b'kull bolla ta' daqs 44mm x 31mm, b'perforazzjoni ta' 14.1 x 14.2 u għandha "watermark" bis-salib ta' Malta. Kull folja hija ta' daqs 115mm x 182mm u ġiet stampata minn Printex Limited bi proċess offset. Il-ħarġa tikkonsisti f'100,000 bolla tat-€0.20, 20,000 bolla tal-€1.00 u 15,000 bolla tal-€5.00.
