The Postal Union for the Mediterranean (PUMed) is a regional postal community with a mission to promote the collective interests of its members in the Euro-Mediterranean zone. Today, PUMed consists of 20 member countries with its headquarters in Malta.
This year, MaltaPost has again joined members of the Euromed Postal Joint Stamp Project in the issue of a new set of stamps bearing a common theme - "Sports in the Mediterranean". The two MaltaPost stamps feature traditional Maltese sport activities, specifically horse racing and the brilli game.

The second stamp, bearing a denomination of €2.00, shows a group of three adults enjoying an outdoor game of brilli, a local version of skittles unique to the island of Gozo. Both stamp drawings are the work of local artist Daniel Spiteri.
This set will be issued in a sheet of 10 stamps, with each stamp measuring 44mm x 31mm, with a comb perforation of 13.9 x 14.0 and bearing the Maltese Cross watermark. The sheets measure 185mm x 118mm and were produced by Printex Ltd in the offset process. The issue consists of 500,000 of the €0.38 stamp and 30,000 of the €2.00 stamp.
