On the 22nd of October 2020, MaltaPost will issue a miniature sheet bearing one stamp to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of St John Paul II.
Saint John Paul II became the 264th pope and the first non-Italian in 455 years. Lasting almost 27 years, his pontificate was one of the most important in centuries, building alliances with Jews, Orthodox, Protestants as well as with the post-communist Eastern Europe states also the State of Israel.
The stamp within the miniature sheet measures 31 mm x 44mm, with a comb perforation of 13.9 x 14.0 and bearing the Maltese Cross watermark. The miniature sheet itself measures 120 mm x 80 mm and was produced in the offset process by Printex Ltd. The issue,designed by Miguel Farrugia of MaltaPost, consists of 16,000 miniature sheets with each sheet bearing a value of €3.00.
This philatelic issue will be available from all Post Offices in Malta and Gozo as from Thursday 22nd October 2020.
