On the 22nd of September 2018, MaltaPost will issue a miniature sheet bearing new stamp commemorating the 50th anniversary from the death of Padre Pio.

The stamp features a painting of the Saint by the Maltese Capuchin monk Patri Krispin Tabone found at the church of Santa Liberata in Kalkara. The stamp carries a face value of €3.00.

20,000 miniature sheets will be issued and the stamp measures 44.0mm x 31.0mm with a perforation of 13.9 x 14.0 (comb), while the miniature sheet itself measures 120mm x 80mm and was designed by MaltaPost and offset printed on Maltese Crosses watermarked paper by Printex Limited.

MaltaPost will also issue a Limited Edition Silver Replica Stamp depicting the same image of the stamp. This is struck in 999.0 silver and its issue is limited to a maximum of 750 pieces. It will be offered in a presentation box together with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity.
